Hello World
This is a new home for my writing. I’ve been meaning to publish my research for a while, and after years of accumulating notes, it’s time to start putting them out into the world.
What to expect
Most of what I’ll publish here falls into two broad categories:
Historical linguistics and comparative religion. My primary research interest is the transmission of words, names, and religious ideas from the ancient Near East into the Greek and Roman world. This means a lot of etymology (Hittite, Luwian, Hurrian, Akkadian → Greek), a lot of Apuleius, and a lot of arguments about sound laws. I follow M.L. West’s methodology and the Neogrammarian tradition — proposals need to satisfy regular phonological correspondences, not just look similar.
Software engineering. By day I’m an engineering manager. I may occasionally write about systems design, team leadership, or interesting technical problems.
If any of that sounds interesting, consider subscribing via RSS.
